Summer Clearance & Polo Selling Guide

How to clear summer stock, price polos properly, and stop dead stock blocking autumn capital.

Selling Guide

The summer rows still show good ROI on paper, but seasonality matters. Mid to late August is not the time to build around ordinary summer stock. Clear, recycle the cash, and only keep buying high-value polos at disciplined buy-ins.

Buying Rules

Stop buying summer stock unless it is a clear underpriced outlier.
Only buy polos with a strong model, colour, size or fabric signal. Ordinary polos need to be £10 TTC or under.
Treat linen, summer trousers and shirts as clearance lanes once August is fading.
Pima cotton, striped polos and QR-code polos remain the better Ralph Lauren polo signals.

Selling Strategy

Price summer stock to move this week. Cost recovery is better than six months of trapped cash.
Drop ordinary polos into the sell band quickly instead of holding out for top price.
Use bundles or small reductions to notify watchers and move weak summer pieces before autumn listings take priority.

Photography Tips

For polos, lead with logo, stripe layout, collar condition and full front.
Show any QR/auth tags and fabric labels where relevant.
For linen and summer trousers, show fabric texture and leg shape clearly.

Key Rules

Capital: Cash stuck in dead summer stock is worse than a small loss recycled into autumn stock.
Polos: The polo lane is still usable, but no longer the lane to build around.
September: By September, held autumn stock should be live while other sellers are paying autumn prices to source.
